According to reports, the 50-year-old returned a positive drug test after police intercepted his vehicle on Exhibition Street on Sunday.
The case was mentioned in Melbourne Magistrates court this week, but the actor will not be required to face a judge until his trial begins in August.
Colosimo was on a 12-month good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamines back in January.
At the time he told News Corp that the matter had caused his family “grief” and was a “wakeup call.”
This is the second time the father-of-two has been charged with driving while suspended.
In 2014, he was fined $1000 without conviction and banned from the roads for 14 days after pleading guilty to two counts of the offence.
