Austin Powers actor Verne Troyer has died aged 49.
At 2 feet 8 inches tall, Verne, who was famed for being the shortest actor in the world, died this morning in hospital after being admitted for problems with alcohol.
"It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today. The statement from Verne’s family said.
“Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible."
"Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message everyday."
The statement on Troyer's Facebook page said he was a "fighter when it came to his own battles."
"Over the years he’s struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much."
Verne was born with achondroplasia dwarfism, which is a genetic disorder prevents cartridge from forming large bones in the body. He used a scooter to help him get around.
"During this recent time of adversity he was baptised while surrounded by his family. The family appreciates that they have this time to grieve privately,” the statement continued.
"Depression and Suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be kind to one another. And always know, it’s never too late to reach out to someone for help."
The star’s death comes after he was rushed to hospital earlier this month when his friend called 911 saying the actor was 'drunk and suicidal'.
The actor was also known for his roles in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Men in Black, The Love Guru and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Verne is survived by his girlfriend, actress Brittney Powell, 43, who appeared with him on Celebrity Wife Swap in May 2015.
