Looking good can be a time-consuming and expensive business but if you gather a little inside knowledge you can save valuable minutes and your hard-earned cash. Here's an industry tip that you absolutely need to be across - petroleum jelly. Yep, plain old Vaseline.
Pro makeup artists not only always have it in their kit they use it in a range of ingenious ways. Here's what they use it for - and what you might like to start doing too.
Brow Taming
Got unruly eyebrows? Stray hairs that won't lie flat? Take a teeny amount of Vaseline and apply to the brows. Comb through with a brow comb and every single hair will do what it's told and all day long.
Highlighter
If you've applied your blush but it's not quite doing it for you, add a tiny dab of Vaseline to the highest points of your cheeks. Blend gently. This will give your cheeks a pretty natural glimmering effect when you catch the light. Go easy now! There's a fine line between sheen and greasy.
Eye Effects
If you're heading out after work or a day with the kids and don't have time (or the inclination) to create a smokey eye or dramatic look, pop a tiny layer of Vaseline onto the upper lid and gently swipe across the entire area. There - disco ready! PS: You can do this with a bare eye or add to the eyeshadow you already have on.
Lip Softener
You likely already know this one - who doesn't? But you may not know that if you add a small amount of Vaseline to the very centre of your lower lip it will appear more full and pouty. And who doesn't love that.
