Fairfax, citing a source, says an autopsy has not been completed but police, who have viewed CCTV from the yacht and questioned all the crew, believe there are no suspicious circumstances.
A local coroner who carried out the autopsy confirmed to Daily Mail the cause of McNamara's death was 'hanging', but claimed results from additional tests could take months to come back.
The coroner also revealed to the publication he had advised Ms McNamara's mother and sister against visiting her in the morgue, saying they should not go 'to see her in such bad state'.
Tributes have poured in for the social media star on Instagram, with hundreds mourning the sudden loss.
'This is so sad, rest in peace,' said one.
Another wrote: 'RIP, I’m so sad to hear about this awful tragedy, her life really just beginning. Sending love, light and prayers to Ashley’s friends & family during this time of tremendous grief & sadness.'
