It was just a few days ago that she announced she wanted to quit I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here following a feud with her co-star Lisa Curry.
But now, 90’s pin-up model Tziporah Malkah has revealed the reason behind the outburst that sparked the argument between the pair, explaining she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
“I’ve got a lot of defence mechanisms just because I have very complex PTSD issues,” Malkah told her castmate Casey Donavan.
“So I often come across as aggressive, when really I’m just being defensive. And just trying to, everyone says who is this competent person? And it’s like, I’m actually very incredibly vulnerable.”
Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that results from exposure to a traumatic event, such as violence or serious personal trauma.
It can result in general anxiety, attempts to avoid traumatic events, some changes in personality, as well as hyper-alertness and distressing levels of vigilance.
The ex-fiancé of Aussie business mogul James Packer confessed that the stress of being in the jungle wasn’t helping her condition.
“And so I’m just like, to say, I’m just not coping,” she said. “I’m just not handling it. I’m kind of arguing with people or I’m crying and I don’t want to look like this bizarre schizo, do you know what I mean?”
Speaking candidly, Malkah - who was previously known as Kate Fischer - also admitted that she wanted to “stop” the destructive behaviour as it was a “pattern” she had adopted since her childhood.
Later, co-stars, Curry and Natalie Bassingthwaite discussed Malkah’s struggle to adjust to camp life, declaring they “felt sorry” for her.
“I’m worried about her, for her to be retaliating like that to everyone,” Bassingthwaite said.
