“I have dropped a bit of weight and put on a bit of muscle,” he told the publication.
“I’ve been eating less, mainly plants but not restricting myself from anything. It is about having time, that moment when there are no more excuses.”
The 58-year-old - who admits to having tried various diets - had found moderation to be the key.
“When I’ve tried this before there has always been restrictions,” Preston continued.
“I am an omnivore and so I am still going to have that occasional burger or the occasional pizza but I am not going to have it every week and I am not going to have pasta every night.”
The former MasterChef judge is set to join Channel Seven in 2020 alongside Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan.
The new show, Plate of Origin, will teams of cooks from diverse cultural backgrounds compete to see which of their chosen cuisines is the best.
