Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld is set to reopen next week after four people tragically lost their lives on the iconic Thunder River Rapids ride last month.
Exactly which day they will reopen their doors is unclear, however, the board of Ardent Leisure will meet on Wednesday to discuss, as well as the reported shock $10 million loss caused by the extended close of the theme park.
Following a police investigation and safety audits conducted by the state government, Dreamworld has been ordered to fix safety hazards throughout the park.
Although the investigation found no new issues with guest safety, eight prohibition notices were handed down for minor improvements to the Gold Coast Park.
Issues ranged from updating faded emergency buttons to replacing a plastic mat and labelling hazardous chemicals.
Dreamworld’s Chief Executive, Craig Davidson said that safety was of ‘paramount concern’ to the running of the park.
‘We are unswervingly committed to go well beyond legislative requirements to ensure every one of our 24 rides and 10 water slides at Dreamworld and WhiteWater World exceed even the most stringent of safety measures,’ Mr Davidson said.
The theme park hasn’t reopened since the tragic deaths of Kate Goodchild, 32, her brother Luke Dorsett, 35, his partner Roozi Araghi, 38, and Cindy Low, 42 in October.
