Todd McKenney caused quite the stir earlier in the week when he casually announced that he'd been in a relationship with former singing heartthrob turned TV host Simon Gallaher - and that Simon had subsequently married Todd's sister, Lisa!
Simon, who has never commented about his sexuality and remains happily married to Lisa, has now hit back on Facebook, and he wasn't mincing any words.
'I have only one thing to say. Todd McKenney is a Headline Whore,' he wrote on his Facebook feed, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald. 'Shame on him. His sister on the other hand is the love of my life and wife of over 31 years. I love her to the end of the world.'
Showing just how annoyed he really is, Simon went on to take a swipe at Todd's casting in the The Rocky Horror Show, following Craig McLachlan's fall from grace.
'NEWS OF THE DAY,' he wrote. 'I have just formed a special lobby group called BRING BACK CRAIG McLACHLAN!'
Simon was quite the singing sensation back in the 80s, when his blonde good looks saw him record a number of albums, and he was a regular face on TV.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Todd's sister Lisa is equally incensed, writing on Facebook: 'Oh I’m okay, my brother is being a douche bag. We all have to just duck the fall out now.'
While Todd says he has declined to talk about the scandal until now, out of respect for the couple's children - who are now grown up - it seems at least one of the kids isn't so thrilled about her uncle.
Daughter Gigi reportedly has expressed her displeasure at the 'outing', saying while she knew about the family secret, many others did not. Until this week!
Todd made the inflammatory statement on Joy 94.9's Word For Word podcast hosted by Ben Norris.
'She married my ex-boyfriend and is still married to my ex-boyfriend but just has never mentioned it to me,' he said.
'It’s weird isn’t it? I don’t think I’ve ever spoken about it publicly.'
He said, 'We did Pirates Of Penzance together…then we split up. I went on with my life and he went on with his.'
McKenny then found out through friends that his ex had begun dating his sister.
'I remember I was doing Cats and there was a newspaper banner outside the news agency, and it said, ‘Simon’s love child,’' McKenney said.
'I didn’t know anything about that but I got into my dressing room and the other guys in the show said, ‘What about Simon and Lisa?’'
McKenney continues, 'And I went, ‘Which Simon?’ They said, ‘Simon Gallaher.’ I said, ‘Lisa who?’ And they said, ‘Your sister!’
'I went, ‘What?!’ I didn’t even know they knew each other.
'They got married and have got three kids and I’m close to their kids.'
However, the veteran theatre entertainer said the relationship doesn't faze him, adding: 'If you’re happy go for it.'
McKenney also revealed that he kept the story secret from the media for the sake of the couple's children, who are now grown.
'I’m sick of not talking about it,' McKenney said.
'For the sake of them I haven’t said it, but they’re grown up now and I get on with them and they know the stories now.'
McKenney said he and Lisa weren't close with each other growing up, adding they were like 'chalk and cheese.'
'We were in the same family but cut from a completely different cloth,' he said of his sister.
'We see each other from time to time, but we don’t ring each other. There’s no animosity.'
