To avoid getting bitten and dealing with the annoying itchiness and rashes, here are five ways you can keep them away from you and your home without having to kill them.
1. Ditch wearing black
Strangely enough, mosquitoes love black!
Opt for more light options, as the pests love to target individuals wearing darker clothing.
2. Cut out these foods
This is an extreme measure but mosquitos love foods high in salt and potassium.
Foods such as avocados, bananas and dried foods can make you a target. Simply, store them away when not in use and opt for different foods when entertaining guests.
3. Chuck out unused water
Believe it or not but water is a breeding ground for the six-legged insects.
Search around the home and remove any unused or old stored water such as those found in buckets and water tanks.
4. Don’t waste your money on bug zappers
While bug zappers may work wonders on flies, they don't actually do any favours when getting rid of mosquitos.
The reason why is because they tend to roam closer to the ground and therefore dodge being zapped.
5. Increase fan usage
Summer is a time where fans become everyone's best friend, but it turns they are also helpful in keeping mosquitos at bay.
Because of their low fly range, fans make it very hard for them to navigate.
To throw them off even more, point your fan at the ground. They will get the hint and leave you alone!
