The MGM biopic will trace the life of the 80s icon from his humble beginnings in a working class family, through his rise to the top of the music charts with Culture Club, reports Deadline.
The movie, which currently doesn't have a title or any attached stars, will be written and directed by Sacha Gervasi, whose previous credits include My Dinner with Herve as well as the 2008 rockumentary Anvil: The Story of Anvil.
And if successful, it could see George's story follow in the footsteps of the Freddie Mercury and Queen story inBohemian Rhapsody, which earned Rami Malek an Oscar, and the Elton John biopic Rocketman.
The Voice Australia judge, George, 57, is clearly chuffed that he's about to become a star of the big screen, sharing the exciting news with his Instagram followers: "A MOVIE! @mgm_studios Thrilling!" he said.
And his famous followers agree!
