In 2018, we saw trends in low-maintenance hairstyles, the renaissance of a bold lip and the rise of no makeup beauty looks. After chatting with Beauty Editor, Annie Millar we can already see some core trends starting to rise in the beauty arena this year. Here’s our top predictions for 2019 so you can stay up to date with the latest.
1\ Beauty is going green
Beauty brands around the world are combining the best of science and nature for a greener planet. One of the best bits is that they are not only looking at creating great natural products but also creating sustainable and eco-friendly methods throughout their whole business. For example, Revlon has ditched plastic in their e-commerce shipping methods, Australian natural beauty brand, Sukin, are carbon neutral and Kevin Murphy has recently announced that 100% of their packaging will be made from ocean waste plastic.
2\ Multi-tasking products
Annie Millar, Better Homes & Gardens, Beauty Editor comments that in 2019 “time poor women are going for hard working, multi-purpose products.” We’re looking for products that go further that are perfect for carrying with you in your handbag. For example “a cream blush can also be used on the eyes and lips for a wash of colour.”
3\ Beauty from the inside out
This trend you won’t find in your beauty cupboard, nourish your body from the inside for an outer glow. Collagenix Beauty Button contains 1250mg of VERISOL® collagen peptides, which is a beauty-specific collagen proven to reduce wrinkles, increase skin elasticity and also strengthen hair and nails. With the added bonus of 40mg of organic vitamin C per tablet and organic zinc, these chewable tablets improve skin radiance, firmness and hydration.
4\ Consumers have the power
Annie also predicts that “ingredient savvy consumers will continue to push brands to exclude ingredients that are not in the best interests of the end user.” Not only is the natural beauty sector booming but popular brands are becoming more responsible for the ingredients they're adding to products. This is evident in the rise of natural sunscreens over the last twelve months that aren’t only better for your health but for the environment like Little Urchin Natural Sunscreen.
