Three people are dead and another has been detained by police after an older model maroon car ploughed into multiple pedestrians in Melbourne’s Bourke St mall and Queens St.
Witnesses say there were multiple shots fired during the drama, with social media images showing scenes of chaos, including an overturned pram and blood stains on the footpath.
Reports have the injury toll at, at least 20 people. The drama erupted at the peak of pedestrian congestion during the lunch hour.
Police have confirmed there has been one arrest, and have described the situation as ‘contained.’
