The nation was introduced to a real-life version of The Castle – the Donaher family, featuring Noeline and partner Laurie, as well as Noeline’s two sons Michael and Paul Baker and Laurie’s son Mick.
Mick was married to Yvette and Paul was dating expectant partner Dione, who he married towards the end of the series.
Paul and Dione’s marriage turned out to be short-lived as they swiftly divorced when the cameras stopped rolling and their baby, Kane, who was born on the show, suffered a turbulent upbringing.
Kane, now 26, eventually went to live with his father, now 52, and they settled in a humble shack – located on Kurnell Beach – with their two pet dogs.
But despite settling into this quiet beachside home, Kane’s life has not been without turmoil.
‘There’s been a fair bit of scandal since the show,’ Kane tells New Idea exclusively.
‘I went through a rebellious phase and I found myself in trouble with the law,’ he adds.
But in his 20s, Kane managed to pull himself out of the gutter and in to a better lifestyle.
Kane sees both his sister Eve and his mum on a regular basis and is happy for them now that Dione has left her partner.
‘She’s got her life back on track and I’m so proud of her,’ Kane says of his mother, who now has a full-time position working as an administrative assistant in an office in the city.
Although Dione’s relationship with Paul is fractious, Kane says his father is his absolute idol.
‘He’s my best mate, not just my father. He’s everything to me.’
