Two crowns and a royal orb belonging to the Swedish royal family were swiped from the 13th century Strangnas Cathedral in a robbery last week.
The daring heist was carried out by thieves who then made a swift exit on a waiting speed boat.
‘One of my friends saw two people running,’ a witness told the Aftonbladet newspaper.
‘I saw the boat was there – a white little boat with a motor on the back. The two men hurriedly jumped on board. We contacted the police and told them. I knew immediately that they were burglars because of the way they were behaving,’ he added.
The crown jewels, which were insured, are made of gold and adorned with precious stones and pearls, but their exact value was not disclosed.
