Organisers behind the event have been targeted by furious fans over Sunday night's ceremony, which many claim robbed the athlete's of their final moment to shine - including the highly regarded flag bearer Kurt Fearnley.
Speaking to former Gold Coast premier Peter Beattie, Kochie demanded to know what went wrong.
'It was such a magnificent Games, how can you stuff up the closing ceremony?' Koch asked the former Queensland premier.
'Every other closing ceremony the athletes have been involved, they are the star of the show! It seems like it was put together by some arty-farty entertainment director.'
Mr Beattie responded by claiming the decision to not include the athlete's in the closing ceremony was for their benefit.
'We were concerned about athletes' welfare, one of the problems is when you've got thousands of athletes, where do you put them?' he said.
The Sunrise hosts criticisms come after Joh Griggs an Basil Zempilas gave an honest and scathing opinion of the games ceremony live on air.
Griggs said she was 'furious' over the decision not to let athletes enter the stadium during the broadcast.
