“I think once I found out a bit more about the show, I was like yeah this does suit us, we do need this.”
Of course, she did have some reservations about them swapping partners as Ben has cheated on a partner in the past.
“It is always at the back of my mind that he has played up in a past relationship, so it does cause a bit of insecurity,” she says.
“But at the same time that was a long time ago and he has learnt from his mistakes: I know he wouldn’t do that to me.”
Of course, Christie almost missed out on meeting Ben, who could have ended up with Georgia Love after appearing on her season of The Bachelorette.
“He really liked Georgia but he says he wasn’t for her and he knew that from the start,” Christie reveals.
“Maybe if he had made it to the end she would have liked him, but I wouldn’t have got him if she took him any further.”
Christie does admit she watched Ben on the show.
“I actually remember watching it and my mum called me downstairs and my mum said ‘Christie, this guy is from Balgownie, do you know him?’ Cause that’s about an hour away from my parents’ house.
“I said ‘No, I don’t, but he looks like he is on drugs,’” she laughs. “He had such an expressive face.”
