‘I’m just done with it [public opinion]... we can’t win,’ she said on the No Filter podcast.
From awkward body language to persistent rumours they are faking their relationship – despite confessing their love on The Bachelorette – Sophie and her millionaire beau Stu have been subject to constant break-up whispers.
On the AACTAs red carpet last week, the 37-year-old went into meltdown mode when asked why Stu wasn’t with her.
‘He’s not well tonight and people are going to think we’re broken up again,’ she snapped, before turning to a publicist and refusing to speak with
any more media.
It appears the star – who recently revealed that an acquaintance swindled her out of everything she had earned in Hollywood – has finally reached the end of her tether.
Explaining their lack of PDA on the Mamamia podcast, Sophie blamed the public for making them uncomfortable.
‘We’re at the airport and they’ll just be like: “Kiss,” and I’m like: “Why are we doing this?” And then they’re like: “Overboard! You’re trying too hard!” ’ she confessed.
‘Or [they’re like], we’re not affectionate enough.’
Earlier this month, the Love Island Australia host admitted that if she and Stu did break up, you won’t be seeing her on The Bachelorette again.
‘I wouldn’t do it again, plus I would look like a... bit of a desperado,’ the entertainer confessed to Nova’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny.
And despite claiming her reason for starring on the reality dating series was to find love, the former Bardot singer now says the reason she and Stu aren’t pictured together much is because her priority is her career.
‘I travel a lot for work. I think they’re used to these people coming off the show and being together as a profession every day, but I’m never home,’ she told Mamamia.
‘I LOVE working... I’m travelling all over the country all the time, I’m an entertainer at the end of the day.’
But Sophie says the travel isn’t affecting their relationship – for now, at least. ‘Time will tell,’ she confirms.
