Sophie Monk has found herself in the middle of a new secret video that will shock Australia.
It’s been sensationally claimed that the former Bachelorette star has made a secret tape of herself auditioning for the hosting role of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! as part of a desperate bid to land Julia Morris’ gig on the reality show.
The video was reportedly made just after her Bachelorette stint ended last year, when she was keen to partner with Dr Chris Brown as the hot new faces of I'm A Celebrity in 2018.
'Sophie has always really admired Dr Chris and thinks they'd have a lot of chemistry together,’ says a source. ‘She did the tape to show that she would be a great new host if they ever decided to replace Julia. While Julia has a lot of fans, Sophie felt that it would be great to have some new blood on the show – and she was putting up her hand for the job.
‘Seeing a celebrity go after someone else’s job is pretty aggressive and would shock a lot of Australians, especially given that Julia is so loved. But I guess this is what happens in the cutthroat world of TV.’
While a source tells New Idea that Sophie’s secret audition tape was rejected, it could’ve fueled Sophie to jump ship and leave Channel Ten to start her new hosting role on Channel Nine’s upcoming Love Island.
'That's definitely the conclusion you could come to,' says one entertainment commentator. 'If Sophie went for a big role on Channel Ten and was rejected, then that would've played right into Channel Nine's hands.
‘When they came to her with Love Island, she would’ve taken it with open arms. It was probably a case of very good timing for Channel Nine.
‘Everyone expected her to stay within the Ten fold. It was a big shock that they didn’t have anything else for her in 2018 after her Bachelorette performance was such
a ratings hit for Ten.’
Sources tell New Idea that Sophie has always had a soft spot for I’m A Celeb’s co-host Chris Brown, and thought they would’ve made the perfect on-screen pair.
‘She thinks they would bounce off each other well.’
