If Sonia was to be ousted from her morning show role, she could potentially continue as host on The Voice, but only if she doesn’t choose to explore opportunities at rival networks.
With several shows set to make a comeback in 2020, including Seven’s revamped Big Brother - which the TV presenter previously hosted - she may opt to leave Channel Nine.
The source went on to say, with Sonia out of the picture, Today co-host Georgie Gardner would most likely be her immediate replacement in the new year.
But according to the network, the rumours are nothing more than just that.
A Nine spokesperson reportedly told the publication: “All of the talk is made up.”
Sonia has been with Nine for eight years, following her stint as host on Seven’s Dancing with the Stars, and is reportedly on a contract worth $800,000.
She was heavily criticised back in 2016, after she called for Muslim immigration to be suspended in the wake of the terror attack in France.
At the time, she took to social media and insisted she was right to raise the issue, which ultimately resulted in immense public backlash.
'Following the atrocities of the last week in Nice, where 10 children lost their lives, as a mother, I believe it's vital in a democratic society to be able to discuss these issues without automatically being labelled racist,' she wrote on social media at the time.
