The sister of a Perth mum at the centre of an alleged family massacre in Bedford has paid tribute to the slain family in a heartbreaking statement this afternoon.
Taryn, who is the daughter of Beverley, sister of Mara and aunty to Charlotte, Alice and Beatrix - said the world was a 'much sadder place without them.'
The statement read:
'We would firstly like to thank everyone for their help, support and kind wishes during this extremely dark and difficult time.
'Beverley was a kind hearted, caring mother and grandmother and was always there for her family. She was very much family orientated and she loved her daughters and grandchildren, and would have done anything for them.
'Mara loved being a mum and she loved her girls. She was so proud of each of them and was doing a great job of raising them. Her girls were her world.
'Charlotte was an energetic, bubbly confident little girl who loved people and loved socialising.
'Alice was outgoing, adventurous and cheeky, while Beatrix was at times a little bit more quiet but gave the biggest hugs.
'This world is a sadder place with the loss of these five beautiful people but Heaven has gained five new angels.'
The statement came shortly after police commissioner Chris Dawson addressed the media to say that it will be alleged that knives and blunt instruments were used to kill Mara Harvey, her three daughters and their grandmother.
He also said that it is believed Mara and her three children were murdered on Monday last week, with their bodies going undiscovered at their Coode Street home until yesterday.
It will be alleged that Mara’s mother was killed the following day.
Mara’s partner, and father to her children Anthony Harvey, has been charged with five counts of murder.
He appeared in court earlier this afternoon.
