Queensland country lad Simon McQuillan and Sydney nurse Alene Khatcheri were the most-loved couple on this year’s season of the hit Nine show.
As one of the only pairs to remain together following the experiment, the loved-up duo have opened up about how they kept their romance alive without spoiling the ending of the show.
‘We especially didn’t want to spoilt it for the viewers,’ Alene, 31, told The Courier Mail.
‘The most common question we got was “Are you still together?”’
With Alene living in Sydney and Simon in Ipswich, they explained phone calls and a romantic getaway kept the flame alive.
‘It was interesting to see how we started off as complete and utter strangers and continued to grow into a relationship,’ Simon said.
Now the show has finished filming, Simon and Alene are trying long-distance before making the big move.
‘We are enjoying the distance relationship,’ Alene told The Daily Telegraph last week.
‘The show just finished so we are just trying to learn the ropes. I have a lot to organise in my life and so does Simon so we aren’t planning too far ahead.’
