An insider tells New Idea that Angelina reportedly took their children from California to New York without warning – and tensions are rising behind the scenes, particularly with their unhappy daughter Shiloh.
Looking downcast and sullen when photographed throughout the trip, Shiloh has reportedly been pleading with her dad to intervene and bring her home.
“Shiloh’s already been on the phone. She just wants to stay with her dad – she is begging him to come and save her from the drama. He’s heartbroken by it,” reveals the insider.
That the trip took place without warning has rattled the former husband and wife’s already fragile agreement.
“Angelina just took off to New York with the kids, and Brad has been left completely blindsided,” says a source close to Brad. “He feels like she’s taken the kids away from him – again – and is beside himself with worry.”
But Angelina has pulled out all the stops to keep the children busy and happy during their trip. Amid visiting museums and going shopping at Toy Tokyo, the clan had dinner at Nobu, went to an escape room in Harlem and caught a performance of the hit Broadway show Hamilton. Angelina also accompanied Maddox as he toured New York University.
The insider explains that Angelina’s trip to New York was in direct response to Brad openly flaunting his renewed relationship with Jennifer Aniston. According to Hollywood Life, Angelina had no idea Brad was back in touch with Jennifer and their reunion left her dealing with a lot of “tough emotions”.
But according to the source, Angelina’s main concern is how she is being reminded of her ex’s new relationship every time she goes somewhere in Los Angeles.
“She told him that she’s over dealing with all his romance dramas in LA –
everyone keeps asking her about Brad and Jen and she’s sick of it,” says the insider. “She also told him that she’s sick of worrying that she might run into Brad and Jen in LA every time she leaves the house – so she decided that she and the kids will stay in New York for the foreseeable future.”
It’s not the first time they have fought over the children. Last June Angelina was scolded by their divorce judge for not letting their children have unmonitored and easy phone access to their father and vice versa. She was warned she risked losing primary custody if the children remained “closed down” to their father, leading to Angelina’s representative calling this a “misleading leak” which wasn’t in the best interests of the children.
While the couple’s final custody agreement has yet to be finalised, Brad currently has less than 50 per cent custody – but over time, and in stages, this is set to increase. But if both sides gear up for another fight, their current agreement could be in jeopardy.
“She’s told him she has no plans to return to LA, and it’s incredibly tense and fragile right now,” says the source. “Brad just can’t believe she’s fled with the kids – just when he thought they had custody settled.”
