The Flawsome Mum prides herself on offering helpful, well-researched and sensible advice to help you get through the many hurdles that may pop up in your day as a mum. Sick of not being able to go to the toilet alone? Bored of watching Good Luck Charlie morning, noon and night? Yep. Me too.
But when it comes to school holiday mayhem, it’s each man - or Flawsome Mum - to themselves, we’re sorry to say. And while I love my kids more than anything else in the world it’s only natural for us mums to need a break every so often - as I found out last week.
It was day six of the summer break, and I was reaching my limit. So I booked the kids into the local community school holiday workshop for the morning. But after just 44 minutes and three sips of tea, I got a phone call to say there’d ‘been an incident with paint, glue, glitter and feathers’ and could I come and collect the girls. Three showers, an hour of scrubbing we had recovered - but I was in desperate need of... something.
And then it came to me. The solution? The treat that everyone loves? McDonald’s! We all tucked into our tried and tested favourites on the menu but then, inspiration struck! Have you tried the new Summer Sides Box? It’s great to share and those Hash Brown Bites are unbelievably good. And we couldn’t get enough of the Chicken McBites. And then, like a miracle sent from heaven (or McDonald’s) the kids played happily in playground while I caught up on Facebook.
Everything was looking a whole lot better until the penny dropped: I still have four weeks of school holidays to go. Oh well, see you next week McDonald’s!
