Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi are fighting to save their troubled eight-year marriage, with therapist-recommended date nights, American publication Life & Style is reporting today.
The talk show host, 59, and Portia, 44, have been seeing a therapist who strongly suggested they go out and get some couple time to overcome their increasingly bitter rifts.
“Ellen has been in counselling, both solo and with Portia,” the source tells Life & Style. “Part of their therapy is to go on more date nights. That’s why they’ve been seen out and about more together lately.”
The two were also spotted conspicuously holding hands while shopping along Los Angeles’ Melrose Avenue on Feb. 24, and making the effort to be cozy at a pre-Oscars bash in L.A. on Feb. 25.
“It’s about spending quality time together,” says the source.
The couple was fighting behind the scenes on set of Ellen’s show mainly because Portia was feeling neglected.
“Portia was frustrated,” adds Life & Style’s source.
