Why the new royal baby is banned from playing with toys!

The royal tot will be sent thousands of gifts

Royal watchers are on full alert as Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting their third child any day now.

And while preparations are in full swing at St Mary’s Hospital where Kate will give birth, there are also some very different preparations taking place at Kensington Palace.

Like the new baby’s older brother and sister, George and Charlotte, he or she will be sent hundreds of gifts from leaders, monarchs and everyday citizens after the arrival.

But, believe it or not, the new royal tot will NEVER be allowed to play with any of the gifts they have been sent.

The Royal Family are reportedly not able to accept unsolicited gifts. Instead the gifts are catalogued and packed away for storage, or occasionally given away to charities or hospitals.

‘It’s just a common practice in the Royal household that they do not accept unsolicited gifts, because there are just so many repercussions,’ Dickie Arbiter, the Queen’s former press secretary, told Express.

Prince George received a huge 706 gifts during his first year, but his father, William holds the record, receiving more than 4200 gifts after his birth.

We wonder how many the new baby will receive!
