The real reason why Kate Middleton was a no show at Meghan Markle’s NYC baby shower has been revealed.
ABC News royal expert Victoria Arbiter revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge found a lavish baby shower “highly inappropriate”.
“It’s added pressure that they are clearly very wealthy, and a lavish baby shower would be seen as highly inappropriate. There’s nothing they can’t go out and buy themselves,” Arbiter revealed.
The Duchess of Cambridge instead opted to hit the ski slopes in the glamorous Courchevel in the Troi Vallees in France, with hubby William and her three children – George, Charlotte and Louis.
The move has done nothing to dispel rumours of a deepening rift between the pair.
Amal Clooney and Jessica Mulroney were among the guests who made an appearance at Meghan’s lavish baby shower held at the five-star Mark Hotel in snowy New York City on Wednesday.
Abigail Spencer, who starred in the US drama Suits with Meghan, was also spotted arriving at the hotel.
Other celebrities attending include harpist Erin Hill, fashion designer Misha Nonoo and television presenter Gayle King, all close friends of the 37-year-old Duchess.
A report claims that the lavish affair cost $300,000 and took place in a $75,000-a-night penthouse at a swanky Manhattan hotel.
It is claimed that Meghan will have a UK baby shower when she returns.
