Following Princess Diana’s bombshell interview where she openly discussed Charles and Camilla’s affair, as well as revealing she suffered depression and bulimia due to her marriage breaking down, the public resolutely turned their backs on the Duchess of Cornwall.

Like the masses, Her Majesty struggled to forgive Camilla for causing one of the biggest scandals to ever hit the royal family.

Despite going public with their relationship in 1999, it took Queen Elizabeth a whole year to meet her future daughter-in-law, refusing to acknowledge her existence in the interim.

However, by the time the royal pair would eventually be married in 2005, it seemed all was forgiven with a whopping two-thirds of the British public supporting the marriage of Charles and Camilla.

According to the founder of MORI Sir Robert Milton Worcester, the public’s shifting attitude was the final turning point for the Queen, who would eventually forgive Camilla and her transgressions.
