Meghan Markle and her soon-to-be sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, have one thing in common – they are photographed everywhere they go. But, royal watchers have noticed there is one major difference in the way the two have their photos taken.
Can you spot it?
Kate, a veteran at official events, always puts on a beaming smile for her photographs and is never spotted looking directly into the camera, while Meghan has been spotted staring down teh barrel of the lens on several occasions.
Body language expert Judi James says Meghan’s approach to the cameras reflects her relationship with social media.
James says, ‘Although Meghan is the same age as Kate, there is a virtual generational difference in their relationships with the camera.
‘Like many young women of the selfie generation, Meghan’s habit of doing what is called ‘camera courting’ – addressing the camera with a direct eye gaze – suggests a desire to communicate openly and confidently.’
James continues, ‘A TV actor like Meghan would behave more like Kate, allowing the camera to court her.’
While Meghan may be of the ‘selfie generation’, the bride-to-be has had to put her social media days behind her as she prepares to join the royal family.
Earlier this month the 36-year-old deleted all of her social media accounts including her Twitter and Instagram.
