We’re eagerly awaiting the announcement of the birth of Pippa Middleton’s first child.
And with the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister expected to go into labour any day now, the question on everyone’s lips is whether Pippa’s bub will get a royal title?
Sadly, according to a report from Town and Country, Pippa’s baby will not form of title.
Royal historian Marlene Koenig explained: “Pippa is Mrs. James Matthews, so her kids will be Master or Miss Christian name Matthews. No titles whatsoever.”
The news follows speculation from royal fans that the unborn child may have received a title because Pippa and husband James hold one themselves – the Laird and Lady of Glen Affic. However, any children they may have will not inherit a title like this as their parents acquired it thanks to land acquisition.
“[James’] father bought a feudal barony,” Koenig explained.
“‘Laird’ is not a title, but a description applied by those living on and around the estate. Ownership of a souvenir plot of land does not bring with it the right to any description such as ‘laird,’ ‘lord,’ or ‘lady.'”
