Meghan Markle made her official Trooping the Colour debut last Saturday, and many royal fans noticed the new duchess was placed at the back of the balcony.
The Duchess of Sussex stood behind sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, and brother-in-law, Prince William, and it’s all because of the royal ‘pecking order.’
Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, told PEOPLE, ‘She was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there’s a pecking order.’
Little added, ‘There was no slight intended, but William being the older, more senior brother would go out [first] with his wife.’

Little added, ‘[Meghan] was still in a good position. She was central rather than the alternative of being in the front row and along the balcony to the left or right.’
At Kate Middleton’s first Trooping the Colour in 2011, she was placed at the far left of the long balcony.

It was actually the royal children that stole the show at this year’s event though.
Prince George was adorably silenced by his cousin Savannah Phillips.
As the music for the British national anthem ‘God Save the Queen’ began to play, Savannah cheekily silenced him by placing her hand over George’s mouth.
Too cute!
