When it comes to the Royal family, it seems Meghan Markle can’t put a foot right.
The Duchess of Sussex has come under fire yet again for apparently breaking another royal protocol. Only this time, she did so in front of The Queen.
According to Royal etiquette and protocol expert William Hanson, Meghan broke the rules while attending the Young Leaders Awards with Prince Harry and her Majesty.
“We saw Meghan sitting before the photograph,” William explains in the 2018 documentary Harry and Meghan: The First 100 Days.
“She crossed her legs. Now, traditionally ladies didn’t cross at the knee – you don’t see the Queen do it.”
He continued: “You have to look like a member of the Royal Family. If we saw the Queen slouching for example, she is suddenly not going to look like the Queen.”
Instead, Mr Hanson says the former actress should have sat with her “feet to one side” and her knees “pointing in the other way, creating the slant effects makes the legs look good. It shows off the shoes and, of course, we are not crossing the legs showing something that we shouldn’t.”
