And so it’s no surprise that in the lead-up to the wedding of the century experts are tipping that the Queen will wear… blue!

In the run up to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s high profile ceremony, UK bookmakers Ladbrokes has set a blue hat as the favourite colour the Queen is likely to wear at 2/1, followed by pink at 3/1.

The Queen, who is Harry’s grandmother, has long been known for her penchant for colourful head gear and matching outfits.

Punters are being given odds of 7/2 that the monarch will opt for a purple hat, and 4/1 that she picks yellow – the same colour she wore to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding.

Back in the 1970s, the Queen was a fan of a pinky, purple hue as she stepped out on a distinct turban-style headpiece during one official engagement at the time.

A shade of cream or ivory – traditionally the reserve of the bride – is 6/1.

Back in 1972, the Queen wore a white floral hat during a visit to the Isle of Man.

However, it’s unlikely she’ll opt for a similar style at Harry and Meghan’s big day as she’s since been shown to prefer a brimmed style of hat over anything else.

An orange hat is tipped by bookmakers at 8/1 and gold 12/1.

For the Trooping the Colour parade marking her official 90th birthday, the Queen wore a vivid flourescent green.

Ladbrokes has green at odds of 5/1.

‘It might be Meghan’s big day, but Her Majesty rules the roost and attention is now turning to her outfit of choice,’ Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said.

‘Punters think she’ll be wearing a shade of blue at Harry’s wedding.

‘However, purple is also proving to be a popular bet at 7/2.’
