The Queen was recently surprised by her husband Prince Philip – who has joined her in Scotland for her summer break.
But the 92-year-old monarch has proven that she is very much an independent woman as she was spotted driving her Range Rover on her Balmoral Estate.

Queen Elizabeth II was photographed on August 18 behind the wheel of her dark green motor at Glen Muick.
She is believed to have been on her way to the first grouse shoot of the year.
Her Majesty appeared to be wrapped up for the occasion – with her head covered and a warm jacket around her.

She wore a pair of dark glasses to drive as she gripped the steering wheel with her left hand.
Prince Philip arrived in Scotland last Monday to join the Queen on her summer break.

The 97-year-old was photographed attending church during his surprise visit.
The couple were joined by other family members, including Prince Edward, Sophie Wessex and daughter Lady Louise.
