It’s well known that Her Majesty has a soft spot for the majestic horse – and has often been spotted riding the gentle animals over the years.
And on Sep. 24 the Queen was captured on camera fondly feeding one of her beloved ponies.
Wrapped up against the elements, in a red headscarf and cream coat, Queen Elizabeth II wore sunglasses to hand a tasty morsel to a chestnut horse with a stunning white blaze on its face.
Her Majesty stopped her car in order to make the kind gesture.
She was on her way back from having lunch at a shooting party at Glen Clova in Balmoral, Scotland.
The Queen’s love of horses was revealed earlier this year when clips showing a then six-year-old Elizabeth show her beaming as she climbed on top of a horse for the very first time.
The clip was released on the BBC’s Countryfile programe as part of a royal special.
As well as horse-riding, Her Majesty also has something of a penchant for horse-racing – as she revealed in an interview in 1974.
“I suppose I first began interested in racing during the war. I’d never felt the satin softness of a thoroughbred before, it’s a wonderful thing,’ she said.
The Queen’s love of horses often sees her attending equestrian events.
In May this year, she attended the Royal Windsor Horse show at Windsor Castle.
Photos from the event, show the Queen beaming alongside a shaggy-haired grey horse.
The 92-year-old monarch wears a trademark headscarf once again in the image, along with a blue, quilted coat.
Attending the show again on the third day – this time in a pink headscarf – her Majesty could be seen inspecting a beautiful black pony.
