Dressed in a royal blue coat and black trousers, the 71-year-old smiled and laughed for the cameras despite the biting British cold.

Prince Charles and Camilla had a jam-packed schedule for their whirlwind visit to the city which included appearances at a number of community organisations and charities.

The royal couple stopped by the University of Liverpool to meet President Michael D Higgins of Ireland, while Camilla went solo to a children’s literacy event at Liverpool Central Library.

The Duchess of Cornwall is known for seeing the lighter side of things at official engagements and is often photographed laughing heartily with her husband and other senior members of the royal family.
