She’s just weeks away from giving birth, but what should be one of the most joyous times in the Duchess of Sussex’s life has been marred by rumours of in-fights with sister-in-law Kate, and Meghan’s staff dropping like flies.

Last week it was revealed that Meghan’s personal bodyguard has quit – just six months after taking up her post working for the duchess.

And now New Idea can reveal the shocking truth about what’s really happening behind palace doors.

In an exclusive interview, Princess Diana’s former bodyguard says the Duchess of Sussex’s police officer – who was pictured leaping into action when Meghan abruptly left a market in Fiji during the royal tour of Australia and the Pacific last October – is probably resigning because she was put in an “impossible position” on the royal tour.

The female officer is the third member of the former actress’ staff to leave in the space of two months.

However, Inspector Ken Wharfe, who spent a decade at Diana’s side, says he “feels sorry” for Meghan’s female minder.

“A very important part of the job is getting on with the person you are protecting, and it is vital they trust you and you trust them,” he notes.

“You can be spending more time together than with your family and friends and you have to have a good relationship.

And the security bungle at the Fijian market was most likely the straw that broke the camel’s back,” reasons Wharfe.

“On the tour Down Under the officer made mistakes when pregnant Meghan had to leave the market for her own safety because it was getting too crowded.

“She was hot and worried, and you could see it.”

“The policewoman should not have allowed her to go into the market without an escape route, and should not have left her sitting in her car for several seconds.”

“I don’t blame her if she has quit because she wasn’t given the support she needed from her bosses and was unable to make the right decisions.”

The officer’s resignation is not the only security issue the royal family are facing.

Last week it was revealed that Islamic State supporters had devised a plan to poison Kate’s grocery shopping.

“We know what she eats – poison it,” read the caption of one image, which was shared on the messaging app Telegram, showing the 37-year-old with a shopping cart. The location of stores where the mum of three shops was also revealed.

Meanwhile, amid these worrying developments, there’s continued speculation about the state of the relationship between the two duchesses.

A new report claims Kate didn’t invite Meghan to her birthday lunch. The Duchess of Cambridge turned 37 on Jan. 9 and celebrated the occasion with an intimate Sunday lunch for family and friends at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk.

However sources claim Meghan and Harry were nowhere to be seen, further fuelling rumours of a rift.

“I don’t know if Kate and Meghan have fallen out, but it wouldn’t surprise me,” notes Wharfe.

“It’s always difficult for the new kid on the block coming in from the outside and there could be a bit of jealousy if Meghan is getting all the headlines.”

Meghan’s rumoured spat with Kate is just one of many problems marring her new life as a royal.

Commenting on the ongoing problem of Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, Ken said: “The palace aides made a massive mistake right at the start when Harry and Meghan were going to get engaged.”

“They should have gone out to see Thomas Markle, put an arm around him and made him feel welcome, like he was coming to the party.”

“My fear is that, as time goes on and Meghan isn’t speaking to him, things will get worse and he will speak out even more.”

“If he is not onside when her baby is born he will give more interviews and it could turn even uglier.”

“It’s not too late and a top royal secretary should go out with Meghan, meet him secretly and patch things up.”
