Inside the royal baby’s first night at Frogmore Cottage

Not what you might expect

The world breathed a sigh of delighted relief when Meghan Markle safely delivered her and Prince Harry‘s first born son, Baby Sussex, just before dawn on Monday.

The first-time parents reportedly spent a “peaceful and emotional” first night with their royal newborn at their home of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, royal insiders told The Sun.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex broke with royal tradition by opting to keep details of the child’s delivery strictly under wraps.

The young couple also eschewed the standard procedure of a press photo call directly after the birth in favour of spending their first moments as family of three in private.

The first photographs of Baby Sussex are expected to be released as early as tomorrow.

But while sources say the tot’s first night was “peaceful”, new dad Harry had another thing to say about his “absolutely to die for” son!

News of the royal baby comes as it emerged Meghan’s hopes of a home birth at Frogmore were dashed when the overdue Duchess was secretly whisked to a London Hospital by Prince Harry and their Scotland Yard Security detail.

According to Daily Mail, Meghan was taken to the American-owned Portland Hospital, the same facility where Sarah Ferguson gave birth to her daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

While previous reports alleged the Sussexes’ had chosen free-of-charge public hospital Frimley Park in Surrey, deliveries at the Portland cost upwards of $28,000 AUD making it more expensive than the ultra-exclusive Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital where Kate Middleton welcomed her three children, Prince GeorgePrincess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Just hours after the birth, a beaming Harry gave an impromptu press conference declaring his wife had safely delivered “a very healthy baby boy”.

Harry, 34, gushed about becoming a father calling it “the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined” and praised women for doing something “beyond comprehension”.

British bookmakers continue to take bets on the name of the Sussexes’ first born son, with Alexander, James and Arthur leading the field.

Spencer, a more unusual moniker, is also a strong contender as fans predict the couple will choose the name in honour of the maiden name of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.
