The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child – a baby boy – just before 5.30am Monday morning, surprising many commentators who had long anticipated the arrival of a little girl.

Clearly ecstatic with his sons’ safe arrival, Prince Harry grinned from ear to ear in his first interview since the royal baby’s birth earlier today.

The newest member of the royal family has finally arrived – but what will his name be? Watch below!

Weighing in at 7lbs 3oz, Baby Sussex remains nameless as far as the public is concerned prompting widespread debate and an increase in betting for the name of Queen Elizabeth‘s eighth great grandchild.

Daily Mail report British bookmakers have slashed the odds of traditional royal monikers James and Alexander which are now joint favourite at 7/2.

These options have overtaken Arthur, Edward and Oliver which were previously discussed as potential royal names.

Further down the list of the bookmakers favourites are Jacob (14/1), Francis (25/1), Jack (33/1) and Alastair (33/1).

But while classic names lead the stakes, many royal experts believe modern royal couple Harry and Meghan will opt for a more unusual title for their little bundle of joy.

Many commentators believe the young royals could honour Harry’s late mother Diana by naming their son her family name, Spencer.

Other non-traditional possibilities include the name Grey, which former Suits actress Meghan once proclaimed to be her favourite boy’s name on her now defunct lifestyle blog The Tig.

Prince Harry and Meghan announced the birth of their first child via their official Instagram account Sussex Royal with a sweet post early Tuesday morning.

“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019.

“Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.

“The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.
