The crowd who had been lining up for hours to see the royal baby were rewarded when Duchess Catherine and Prince William showed off their new baby on the steps outside the Lindo Wing.

Kate looked stunning in a red Jenny Packham dress and held the new arrival while her proud husband Prince William fondly said “we’re very happy”.

The happy couple then drove off to Kensington Palace to start life as the “Famous Five”
