Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised royalists when they announced they planned to spend Christmas abroad with the Duchess’ mum Doria Ragland.

And now, Buckingham Palace has officially confirmed the Duke and Duchess will forgo the traditional family Christmas at Sandringham and jet off to America with little Archie in tow.
Royal correspondent Omid Scobie took to Twitter on Wednesday to share the official announcement, which also revealed how the Queen feels about Harry and Meghan’s plans.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month,” the message began.
“Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, [the couple] will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria.”
According to Omid, the statement read: “This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”
He went on to say that for security reasons, the Palace has also announced it will not be sharing any further details about Harry and Meghan’s holiday schedule.
This will be the second time Meghan and Harry have declined an invite from the Queen, with the first being her Balmoral gathering in the summer, Express reported.
They are said to be exhausted by increased publicity and media attention and spoke about feeling “vulnerable” in the documentary Harry and Meghan: An Africa Journey.
The trip will be Archie’s second journey to the US, after it was revealed Meghan brought him along with her, when she jetted out to watch Serena Williams play in the US Open.
Speaking during an interview on Access Hollywood, Serena inadvertently shared that Meghan brought baby Archie with her when she came to NYC in September.
“She flew all the way with a newborn to see me play in New York and flew all the way back that night and I probably couldn’t have done that,” Serena said.
