According to the National Enquirer the Queen plans on telling Charles that she will not name him as her successor, with a source telling the publication: “The queen has thrown protocol out the window and shocked everyone by deciding to skip a generation and name her favourite grandson instead of her oldest son as the next monarch.

“It may seem audacious to some, but Elizabeth has always privately felt that Charles lacked the fortitude to rule.”

The source explained why Queen Elizabeth feels Charles isn’t the right fit for the role of King: “He’s awkward in public and lacks the social graces needed to curry favour with the people and the government.”

According to the publication, Charles has been involved in one too many scandals over the years, which his mother has found hard to forgive. William, on the other hand, has a stellar public image and has made few missteps.

The source explained to the publication: “The people like him [William] and say he’s more genuine than his father ever was.

“William is everything that Charles isn’t — and Kate is even more popular than her husband.

“Many believe that Kate will make an excellent queen for not only her compassion and composure but also her grace under pressure.”
