A newly surfaced report has claimed that the Duke and Duchesses baby name Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor came after a bitter family row.
In 1960 it was declared that the Queen’s descendants could carry the name Mountbatten Windsor, but the ‘decision was preceded by a bitter row’ according to The Daily Express.
Apparently Prince Phillip’s desire to give his children the name Mountbatten ‘sparked a lengthy family feud’ when former Prime Minister Winston Churchill, Queen Mary and the Queen Mother all decided “no, this is not going to be the way”.
According to reports “that hurt Prince Phillip deeply” and he was made to feel like “just a bloody amoeba” within the palace which lead to a feud that ‘lasted for almost a decade’.
As a consequence, Prince Phillip ‘refused to let the matter drop’ and the Queen decided “she absolutely needed to revisit” the matter “it had been irritating her husband since 1952”.
As a result the name Mountbatten-Windsor was allowed for royals not wishing to take the name ‘Royal Highness’.
