The Danish royal family has sent a heart-rending message to the victims of yesterday’s Sri Lanka bombings which killed more than 207 people and left hundreds more wounded.
Princess Mary and Prince Frederik, as well as Fred’s mother Queen Margrethe, issued a statement of condolence via the official Instagram of Denmark’s royalty.
Written in Danish and English, the message read: “Deeply shocked to learn about the devastating and terrible terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka today.
“I wish to express my sincere condolences and sympathy to you and the people of Sri Lanka.”
“My thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims.”
The statement was addressed to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.
Denmark’s official sympathy comes hours after coordinated attacks killed more than 207 people in prominent churches and five-star luxury hotels across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.
Eight blasts ravaged tourist hot spots and major landmarks in terror atrocities targeting Christians and foreign visitors.
Initial reports indicate over 450 have been left injured.
No Australian citizens have been reported missing, but five Britons and a number of Portuguese, Dutch and American holidaymakers are said to have died.
This morning Sri Lankan media revealed a six-foot pipe bomb had been discovered at the country’s main airport.
