It was the scandal to end all royal scandals.
In 2010 Sarah Ferguson was secretly filmed by undercover reporter Mazher Mahmood, agreeing to grant him access to ex-husband Prince Andrew in exchange for money.

The bombshell video garnered worldwide attention, and once again facilitated in Fergie’s very small fall from grace.
While the Duchess of York released a statement saying she was ‘devastated’ and that she ‘deeply regretted causing any embarrassment’ to the royal family, it was her children that seemingly suffered the worst from the whole sorry episode.
Daughter’s Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were said to have been equally hurt by their mother’s actions, but it has now been revealed that Princess Beatrice was so affected by the entire incident that she didn’t leave her home for days.
A friend of Beatrice’s spoke with American journalist Edward Klein, revealing that Beatrice couldn’t face the public in the aftermath of the scandal.
“Beatrice was clearly embarrassed when it was revealed that Fergie took money to introduce an undercover reporter to Prince Andrew.
“A friend went to Royal Lodge to comfort Beatrice, who wouldn’t leave the house because she was so ashamed and didn’t want to have to deal with the press.”
The source continued: “The friend spent two nights with her while she cried.”
The fall out from the scandal was so widespread that the undercover sting has widely been reported as the reason Fergie was not invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 2011 royal wedding, with Ferguson only recently making some ground back with her royal relatives.
However, it seems that the Windsor’s have put the whole nasty business behind them after an invitation was extended to Fergie for the royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, a sign that maybe the Queen has forgiven Fergie’s past discretions.
The royal redhead has also started to slowly integrate herself back into royal life as she was seen mingling with Prince Charles and Camilla at the Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank back in October, while also attending Royal Ascot this year with the Duke of York by her side.
