After months of speculation from royal fans and bookies suspending bets, Princess Beatrice of York has finally announced her engagement to boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
A recent report reveals that Princess Beatrice’s sister was the first to break the news on Instagram.
According to Express, news of the royal engagement was leaked on Instagram and Princess Eugenie later deleted her post.

However, the post remains on Princess Eugenie’s Instagram account and features photos of the newly engaged couple taken by her royal highness herself.
“Beabea – wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be,” she wrote in the caption.
Princess Eugenie – who married Jack Brooksbank at St George’s Chapel last year – also shared the following statement from her Princess Beatrice and her fiance.
“We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married. We share so many similar interests and values and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
The Royal Family Instagram account also confirmed the engagement yesterday on behalf of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duke and Duchess of York.
“The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Beatrice to Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi,” the caption read, announcing that the royal wedding will be married next year.
“Her Royal Highness and Mr Mapelli Mozzi became engaged in Italy earlier this month. The wedding will take place in 2020.”
According to Town and Country, the Duke and Duchess of York shared how excited they were in the following statement:
“We are thrilled that Beatrice and Edoardo have got engaged, having watched their relationship develop with pride,” it read. “We are the lucky parents of a wonderful daughter who has found her love and companion in a completely devoted friend and loyal young man. We send them every good wish for a wonderful family future.”
Afterwards, Beatrice’s mother Sarah also posted on Instagram congratulating the pair, sharing black and white photos of Edoardo and Beatrice.
“I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law. @princesseugenie took the colour photographs as my girls are so close. Beatrice and Edo wanted her to capture this special moment,” Sarah wrote in the caption.
