When US president Donald Trump arrived at Buckingham Palace for his first official state visit, there were a couple of senior royal family members that were noticeably absent.
On Monday, president Donald Trump and the First Lady arrived at the Queen’s home in London – Buckingham Palace – and were welcomed by first-in-line to the throne Prince Charles, and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles.
Joining the US president on his UK visit, was daughter Ivanka Trump, and Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner.
However, the next most senior pair, Kate Middleton and Prince William, were nowhere to be found.

After Melania Trump and Donald Trump landed London for their official visit of the United Kingdom, the American couple were taken straight to the Bow Room in Buckingham Palace where Queen Elizabeth introduced the couple to the senior members of her household.
Kate Middleton and Prince William don’t live far away from Buckingham Palace, however, the royal pair did not attend the welcome ceremony.
Neither did the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (who is currently on maternity leave with baby Archie).
Despite what some might view as a frosty reception from the Cambridge’s, William and Kate did join the Mr and Mrs Trump, Her Majesty and the British Prime Minister Theresa May, at the state dinner.
The state banquet took place in the ballroom at Buckingham Palace and was attended to by Prince William, Kate Middleton, Her Majesty and Donald and Melania Trump.
