The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been involved in a terrifying mid-air emergency during their royal tour of Pakistan.
According to the Express, Prince William and Kate Middleton were on board the RAF Voyager when it was forced to “abandon its landing” due to severe lightning and turbulence.
As a result, the pilot was forced to return to Lahore “for safety reasons.” Royal correspondent for The Daily Express Richard Palmer said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are back in Lahore.
“We set off for Islamabad, circled the capital for an hour, but couldn’t land in heavy thunderstorms.”
Royal photographer Chris Jackson also took to Instagram to share some photos of the storm, telling his followers he was “busy gripping his seat” during the flight.
Meanwhile, correspondent for the Daily Mail Rebecca English wrote: “The pilot tried to land twice, at two different airports.”
After finally landing safely, it is believed Prince William made a joke about the ordeal saying: “That was flying.”
“Fortunately William has taken it in his stride – he just came back down the plane to see if we were all ok and joked that he was flying,” Rebecca added.
Earlier in the day, the duke and duchess had spent time playing a friendly game of cricket with children at the National Cricket Academy on their fourth day of the royal tour.
