Rumours of a royal feud between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have been plaguing the royal family for months now, but according to a new book, it’s Prince Harry and Prince William who’ve suffered a series of royal rifts.
They may be grown up family men now, but a new royal biographer has revealed that there were times the two brothers were “barely on speaking terms”.
Royal biographer Katie Nicholl revealed in her 2010 book “William and Harry” how the two brothers have not always seen eye-to-eye, especially when it came to Harry’s infamous party-boy lifestyle.
Back in 2002, it was revealed that a then-underage Duke of Sussex had been drinking and smoking marijuana, the news became a scandal that rocked the royal family.
Nicholl writes, “Harry escaped an official police warning but the incident sent shockwaves through the royal family.”
Nicholl continued to describe how the incident became the first point of tension between the two brothers, “It was the catalyst for the first serious rift between William and Harry, who resented the fact that he had been blamed for everything while William got away scot-free.”
Nicholl divulged that while Harry has the reputation of a party boy, William wasn’t exactly “a model of decorum”.
The royal biographer explains Harry’s ill feelings got so bad William went to visit Harry at Eton, “to smooth the situation over”.
However, it seemed that in the end, the brothers forgave one another, “In the end he forgave William because it wasn’t really William’s fault,” Nicholl continued, “but it took some time. Harry was reeling for a while.”
