It’s been said that the Prince of Wales adores his daughter-in-law Meghan Markle. So much so that he even has his very own nickname for the Duchess of Sussex.
According to royal correspondent Russell Myers, Prince Charles and Meghan have a “strong bond” and “he’s been calling her tungsten, the metal, because she is tough and unbending.”
Mr Myers told Yahoo’s The Royal Box: “It’s a bit of a weird one but I think he really respects her. He thinks she has managed to deal with it well. He has had his fair share of bad press in the past, a lost of crisis in his life, so I think he’s trying to get her to navigate the choppy waters of joining the Royal Family.”
He continued: “That sort of bonding between them is really nice to see.”
Earlier this week it was reported that Meghan has cut ties with her father, instead turning to Prince Charles for support.
And the Duchess of Sussex now sees Charles as more of a father figure to her than her own dad, Thomas Markle.
With the Daily Mirror reporting that Meghan has turned to Charles after her relationship with her dad broke down, their sources reveal.
“She sees Charles as a father figure,” a source told the publication.
Duchess Meghan and her father-in-law, Prince Charles have always enjoyed a good relationship.
At Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry, the Prince of Wales walked his daughter-in-law down the aisle of St George’s Chapel in Windsor, when her own father didn’t attend the ceremony on May 19, 2018.
Thomas Markle said at the time he had to pull out due to issues with his heart.
