Meghan is a ‘PR disaster’, says royal expert
According to royal correspondent Russell Myers, the pair “really developed this strong bond. He’s even got a nickname for her,” he told Yahoo’s The Royal Box.
“He’s been calling her tungsten, the metal, because she is tough and unbending.
“It’s a bit of a weird one but I think he really respects her. He thinks she has managed to deal with it well.
“He has had his fair share of bad press in the past, a lot of crisis in his life, so I think he’s trying to get her to navigate the choppy waters of joining the royal family.
“That sort of bonding between them is really nice to see because she hasn’t had it easy, has she?”
It’s no surprise the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex have a good relationship – Charles even stepped in to walk Meghan down the aisle when she married Prince Harry in May 2018.
And he’s becoming more of an influence in her life.
In fact, Meghan has turned to Charles instead of her own father, Thomas Markle, for support more and more lately, as she shuns her family as she believes they’ll be a bad influence on Archie.
“She sees Charles as a father figure,” a source told the Daily Mirror.
Meghan is in no rush to reconcile with her father, as a senior royal source went on to tell the publication: “Meghan’s overriding view is that there is no place for her father or his extended family in her life right now.
“She has a strong family unit around her in Harry, with their adorable newborn son, and he has been very, very clear that she only wants positive influences for Archie.
“If anything she has developed a strong bond with Harry’s father and has discussed the situation with him.
“She definitely sees Charles as a father figure, a principled man who has had his life played out in the public eye,” the source told the Daily Mirror.
